Presentation (20 marks) - Content & Presentation (10 marks) – Assesses organization, inclusion of opinions and factual points, and ability to engage the examiner. - Pronunciation & Intonation (5 marks) – Evaluates clarity and natural flow of speech. - Language Quality (5 marks) – Examines fluency, accuracy, idiomatic usage, and vocabulary range. 2. Topic & General Conversation (40 marks each) - Comprehension & Responsiveness (10 marks) – Ability to understand, respond promptly, and develop discussion. - Accuracy (10 marks) – Grammatical correctness and language precision. - Feel for the Language (10 marks) – Use of idioms and natural expression. - Vocabulary & Structures (10 marks) – Range of vocabulary and complexity of sentence structures. 3. Asking Questions (5 marks) - Candidates must ask relevant questions during the conversation. Failure to do so results in score reduction. 4. Scoring Criteria - Very Good (9-10 marks) – Fluent, structured responses with minimal errors. - Good (7-8 marks) – Strong comprehension and accuracy but some hesitation or minor mistakes. - Satisfactory (5-6 marks) – Basic understanding with limited vocabulary and noticeable errors. - Weak (3-4 marks) – Struggles with comprehension and expression. - Poor (0-2 marks) – Severe difficulty in communication and lack of grammatical structure. 5. Consistency & Full Mark Utilization - Examiners must apply the marking scheme consistently and award marks using the full range available.
