Most of the water on Earth is salty. This means that we can't drink it.
Some people do not have enough clean fresh water to drink.
We need clean fresh water to drink. We need it for our animals to drink and for our plants.
We do not always look after our fresh water. Villages, towns and cities pollute rivers.

By stopping pollution we can make the land and waters clean again.
You will need: a large piece of paper - pens - pencils
Make a large poster of the life of a river as it flows from the mountains, through forests, lakes and past towns, farms and factories. Give your river a name.
Discuss the animals and plants that might live in the river and how they might suffer from pollution. Write on your poster to explain what is happening to the river.
You will need: two beakers - tap water - a funnel filter paper - sand - a stick for stirring
Look at the pictures to see what to do.
You may want to repeat this activity.
Why might this be a good idea? Does the water look cleaner?
