Light intensity is a measure of the amount of light in an area. In the past, people measured light intensity in 'candlepower'. This was the amount of light given out by a candle. Today people measure light intensity with light meters.
You will need: a light meter, a candle, a light bulb and an LED bulb, a book, measuring tape
If you have a digital light meter, measure the light intensity. You will need to measure outside in the sun, outside in the shade, inside the classroom and in a dark cupboard. Record the measurements.
Design your own way of comparing the light intensity given out by a candle, a light bulb and an LED. Predict which light sources will give the best light intensity.
To test your prediction, measure how far away from each light source you can see well enough to read. Record your results.
Compare the light intensity from these three light sources.

1- Think about your comparison of light intensity. How well did your results support your predictions?
2- How did you make your test fair?
The pictures show people who need to measure light intensity.
